About The Club
Past
Lincoln Gymnastics club was established in 1981 and trained both male and female gymnasts between the ages of 5 and 18 at both Yarborough Leisure Centre, Lincoln and North Kesteven Leisure Centre, North Hykeham.
During 2005, the Club became the first Lincolnshire Club and fifth in the East Midlands Region, to achieve the British Gymnastics GymMark and Sport England Club Mark, which is the recognised accreditation for a safe, effective and child friendly club, providing a service to the Community, that children and young people, their parents/carers and others with an interest in gymnastics can trust. This was followed up in 2006 and 2007 by re-accreditation.
In May 2006 it achieved it's long term goal of opening it's own premises dedicated to gymnastics, and over the years it has seen some major changes, these being the area upstairs that consists of viewing, kitchen and changing areas. The porch added to the front of the building and extra parking extended in the field adjacent to the existing car park. All of which proved valuable in the first Club Competition to be held at the venue during November 2010.
More recently the club has taken delivery and fitting of a brand new Continental Sprung floor to replace the one that the club had when they moved in. Aswell as this the club is constantly looking to replace the smaller bits of equipment such as springboards and landing mats.
Present
The Club now has a role of over 600 gymnasts both male and female, ranging from aged 1 - 19 including, Parent / Toddler, Independent Fundamental Sessions, Gymnastics for Disabilities, Recreational and Competitive Sessions. As well as this, the more capable gymnasts in the club may take part in displays such as Boultham Park Fair where the club has been a popular visitor since the fair started 25 years ago.
The Club enjoys the services of a dedicated team of over 20 experienced male and female coaches, led by Head Coach Alan Hutchinson, the coaches range from Level 1 through to Level 4 determining the difficulty of skills the coaches can teach and support. As well as the coaches there are people out the gym who help to keep the club running on a day to day basis dealing with finance, kit, supplies and admin.
All in all, the Lincoln Gymnastics Club certainly promotes a very positive "Gymnastics for All" ethos.
