2nd October 2011 - County Floor and Vault Competition

BoysSpalding

Sunday 2nd October saw a group 20 of boys, both recreational and squad, take a trip to Spalding Gymnastics Club to compete in the county floor and vault competition, the day was a huge success with solid performances from all gymnasts on both pieces of apparatus, the club came away with good positions in all age groups, making the coaches very happy.

William Jones took the bronze medal in the under 8's, the youngest category of the day, and a good floor score put him in the mix with three Spalding gymnasts.

The under 9 category saw some great performances and a field of 13 gymnasts made for good competition with all 8 Lincoln boys placing inside the top 9. The gold was taken by Mykenzie Mellers after a vault that left the judges with just 0.9 to deduct. The silver was taken by Arlo Southwell with the highest score on floor, just! The bronze was taken by Theo Butcher with Adam Crisp and Ben Haldenby close behind in forth and fifth.

The under 10's competition ended with the boys in the middle of the field showing they are a competitive bunch, the boys performed well and Daniel Davies missed out on the bronze by just 0.05 and the rest of the top 6 close behind.

In the under 12's competition the boys, unfortunately, were outside the top six but all gymnasts had good floor routines and vaults with no major problems.

There were 3 Lincoln boys in the under 14 competition, gold was won by Jack Ordish by half a mark, William 'Billy' Wilson took the bronze while Patrick Haynes didnt have his best day and finished fifth.

Despite there only being two gymnasts in the over 14 category Max Wilson dominated with a final score 2 points above his fellow competitor from Spalding, after a strong floor and powerful vault.

In the overall competition the top 6 consisted of 3 Lincoln boys. Jack Ordish scored 22.60 and the 6th highest score of the day, Mykenzie Mellers scored 22.70 and the 4th highest score of the day, Max Wilson was the champion of the day with 23.30 and rounded off a great day out with plenty to celebrate.
